Directed by Tony Rust

“Who is the monster and who is the man?” This is the central theme explored in the sweeping, grand-scale musical based on Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel. Quasimodo, the cathedral’s bell-ringer, has been kept imprisoned in his tower by the devious archdeacon Frollo. When all of Paris is celebrating the Feast of Fools, Quasimodo finally escapes for the day, only to be treated as a monster by all but the beautiful Esmerelda. However, Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit. Tensions among her admirers escalate amidst the already-volatile relations between the Church and the Romani people. As Frollo works to eradicate the Romani from Paris, will Quasimodo be able to save Esmerelda? Driven by this powerful story and haunting score, Cottage Theatre’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be a truly unforgettable experience.
