THE RAINMAKER

She Loves Me
June 5 - 21, 2009
A heartwarming romantic comedy by Richard Nash

Directed by Reva Kaufman

At the time of a paralyzing drought in the West, we meet Lizzie Curry, whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her becoming an old maid as they are about their dying cattle. With no relief from the dry heat in sight, there suddenly appears a man with a mellifluous tongue who promises to bring rain for $100. It's a silly idea, but Bill Starbuck is so refreshing and ingratiating that the family finally consents. Following his instructions, they begin banging on big brass drums to rattle the sky. Meanwhile, the rainmaker turns his magic on Lizzie, and persuades her that she has a very real beauty of her own.
