ABOUT COTTAGE THEATRE
Cottage Theatre (CT) is a community theatre in Cottage Grove, Oregon whose mission is engaging and enriching our community through the magic of live theatre. We produce plays and musicals year-round, typically presenting 80 performances annually. We also offer educational theatre programs for children and partner with our local high school to produce their annual Rhythm & Blues Revue. A member of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT), CT is one of six theatres in the nation selected to produce a world premiere in the AACT 2024 NewPlayFest.
CT has grown tremendously since humble 1982 beginnings under a parachute. Our current facility was built in 1998 (“ACT I”). A Rehearsal Hall and larger lobby were added in 2006 (“ACT II”). In 2022, we transformed our facility completely by adding 50 more seats and remodeling all public-facing spaces ("ACT III"). In addition to producing outstanding programs, Cottage Theatre has matured into a successful non-profit with a long history of balanced budgets, an enthusiastic Board, and a strong culture of strategic planning.
As a community theatre, we pride ourselves on being an organization fueled by volunteers. All of our artistic personnel, from actors to directors to set painters to lighting designers to ushers, are volunteers. Several hundred volunteers contribute an estimated 50,000 hours of service every year.
