USHER

We use volunteer ushers at every performance! Our ushers represent Cottage Theatre. Their enthusiasm and helpfulness set the tone for the performance. Ushers greet arriving patrons, hand out programs, escort patrons to their seats, assist with concessions sales, and help maintain the lobby and bathrooms. In return, ushers get to see the show for free. Training is provided. See information about Spring 2022 usher training below.

Sound good to you? If you are interested in ushering at one of our upcoming performances, contact our office staff.

Here are our usher guidelines:
  • Participate in Cottage Theatre Usher Orientation at least once per year. Usher Training will be offered in the spring and again in the fall.
  • When your shift arrives, please show up (with a smile!) promptly by 6:30 pm for evening performances and 1:30 pm for matinees.
  • Dress code: please dress in any combination of black, white, or grey. You will be given an usher apron to wear on top of your clothes.
  • Please refrain from wearing fragrances.
  • Check in with the Box Office staff upon arriving.
  • Attend brief pre-performance training.
  • Check tickets, hand out programs, and escort patrons to their seats. (Please note that ushering requires going up and down stairs.)
  • Sell concessions at intermission.
  • Help clean up auditorium, bathrooms & lobby following performance.
  • Please give at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to work on your scheduled day.

Usher Orientation

Our next Usher Orientation has to be scheduled, but will be sometime later in 2022. Please check back here if you're interested.
