Welcome to the Renaissance! The Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, are desperately trying to keep their acting company afloat. They are determined to write the next hit play but are constantly upstaged by that Renaissance rock star known as The Bard. When a local soothsayer foresees the future of theatre — acting, singing, and dancing, all at the same time! — Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. As they fecklessly head toward opening night, they find themselves in a bitter battle with The Bard, but eventually realize “To Thine Own Self” be true. A hilarious mash-up of 16th century Shakespeare and 21st century Broadway, Something Rotten has been hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years."
