Directed by Bil Morrill Leo Bloom is an unhappy pencil-pushing accountant who has big show business dreams. Max Bialystock is a money-obsessed, down-on-his luck Broadway producer. Desperate, they join forces to produce the biggest flop in Broadway history. Why? Because they discover they can make more producing a flop than they can a hit. As they fecklessly find a script (the ridiculously offensive “Springtime for Hitler”), hire the worst dire tor in the business, and bilk their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions, they are confident they’ve got the flop-of-the-century. Only one thing goes awry: their show is a smash hit! Based on Mel Brooks’ cult classic comedy film, The Producers is a hilarious musical that skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners with its provocative, outrageous, in-your-face humor.
