January 21, 2015 Contacts: Susan Goes, Executive Director, 541-942-8001 Amanda Ferguson, Artistic Director, 541-409-2522 Cottage Theatre opens 2015 season January 30 with 12th Night Cottage Grove, OR — Cottage Theatre opens its 2015 season at the end of January with a production of 12th Night set in 1950s Cuba. William Shakespeare's classic love triangle becomes a comic "triángulo de amore" in this version set at the "Club 12th Night" in Havana, complete with an on-stage band. Cottage Theatre's production of Shakespeare's 12th Night runs for three-weekends starting January 30. As is typical of Shakespeare comedies, 12th Night is full of droll wit, cross-dressing, and mistaken identities. “If this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction.” The lovely Viola, shipwrecked in Havana, Cuba in the 1950s, and believing her twin brother to be dead, dresses up like a man to make her way in a new land. She becomes a messenger for Mafioso Don Orsino, who bids her plead his case of love to the alluring Olivia. Unfortunately, Olivia falls in love with the disguised Viola, while at the same time Viola falls in love with Orsino. Along the way, Viola’s lost twin emerges from the sea and we are entertained by Feste, who is something of a cross between Frank Sinatra and Ricky Ricardo. Cottage Theatre's production of 12th Night is directed and designed by Tony Rust. Costume design is by Marjorie Steen and lighting design is by Amanda Ferguson. The on-stage band consists of Jim Reinking on drums and Chris King on piano. The cast includes Davis N. Smith as Don Orsino, Tracy Nygard as Viola, and Martha Benson as Olivia, along with Dale Flynn, Mark Anderson, Earl Ruttencutter, Tony Rust, Sophie Blades, Melissa Miller, Randall Brous, Ward Fairbairn, Bil Morrill, Amanda Ferguson, Rachael Dahlen, Keith Kessler, and Zoe Muellner. 12th Night runs for three weekends at Cottage Theatre from January 30 - February 15, 2015. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Tickets are available online at www.cottagetheatre.org, by phone at 541-942-8001, or in person at the Cottage Theatre Box Office, 700 Village Drive, Cottage Grove. Tickets are $19 for adults and $16 for youth (age 6 to 18). Box Office hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 2 pm, and one hour before performances. ### Our brand new season opens on January 30 with a production of Shakespeare's 12th Night set in 1950s Havana, Cuba.
