Author Bob Welch to hold second book signing May 2 at Cottage Theatre

Cottage Grove, OR — Following the success of an April 17 book signing, local author, speaker and award-winning columnist Bob Welch will return to Cottage Theatre on Saturday, May 2 to autograph copies of his latest book, 52 Little Lessons from Les Misérables. This book signing will take place before Cottage Theatre's 8 pm performance of Boubil and Schönbergs Tony award-winning musical Les Misérables.

A Eugene native and long-time columnist for the Register-Guard, Welch has twice won the National Society of Newspaper Columnists’ highest award for writing. In his most recent published work, " . . . Welch walks readers through Victor Hugo's masterpiece, extracting dozens of uniquely spiritual reflections from this enduring portrait of poverty, social injustice, mercy, and redemption," according to the book's jacket.

Copies of the book will be available for sale that evening. A few tickets are still available for the May 2 performance of Les Misérables, but are not necessary in order to attend the book signing. Doors open at 7 pm. Cottage Theatre is located at 700 Village Drive in Cottage Grove.

For more information, phone the Cottage Theatre Box Office at 541-942-8001. Box Office hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 2 pm, and one hour before performances.

Cottage Theatre announces date change for Proof auditions

Cottage Grove, OR — Cottage Theatre will hold auditions for David Auburn's 2001 Pulitzer prize-winning play Proof on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 pm rather than the previously-scheduled date of Sunday, April 26. Auditions will be held at the theatre, located at 700 Village Drive in Cottage Grove. This story of love, genius and instability is the third production of Cottage Theatre's 2015 season. Proof will run for three weekends beginning June 12, 2015.

The story centers around Catherine, a troubled young woman who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former graduate student of her father's from the University of Chicago who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness—or genius—will she inherit?

A small cast of two men and two women is needed for this production directed by Alan Beck. Proof will run for 11 performances from June 12 - June 28, 2015.

These auditions are open to any interested actors and no appointment is necessary. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Audition information is available at www.cottagetheatre.org or by calling Cottage Theatre at 541-942-8001.
