September 8, 2015 Contact: Susan Goes, Executive Director, 541-942-8001 Cottage Theatre announces auditions for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Cottage Grove, OR — Cottage Theatre will hold auditions for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on Sunday, October 4 and Monday, October 5 at 6:30 pm. This play, dramatized by Joseph Robinette from the story by C.S. Lewis, will be the final offering in Cottage Theatre's 2015 season. Auditions will be held at the theatre, located at 700 Village Drive in Cottage Grove. This magical dramatization of the C.S. Lewis classic faithfully recreates the adventures of four children who wander, quite by accident, from an old wardrobe into the exciting and unusual land of Narnia. Filled with action, poignancy, and intrigue, the adventure unfolds as the evil White Witch tries to keep Narnia in an endless icy winter and to end the reign of Aslan, the Lion. Amidst battles and struggles, Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy discover the truth of the “prophesy” that only they can fulfill. This story of love, faith, courage, and redemption, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life. A large cast of approximately 30 actors is needed for this production directed by Kory Weimer. There are two roles for children ages 9 to 12; the remaining roles are for teens and adults ages 14 to 70. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will run for 11 performances from December 4 - 20, 2015. These auditions are open to any interested actors and no appointment is necessary. The auditions will consist of readings from the script as well as some weapons improvisation which will be explained at auditions. Additional details are available at www.cottagetheatre.org or by calling Cottage Theatre at 541-942-8001. ### For Immediate Release September 4, 2015 Contact: Susan Goes, Executive Director, 541-942-8001 Jesus Christ Superstar opens at Cottage Theatre on October 2 Cottage Grove, OR — Cottage Theatre's largest cast of the year takes the stage starting October 2 for a four-weekend run of Jesus Christ Superstar. With 40 actor-singer-dancers, an on-stage rock band, and a set that includes floor-to-ceiling steel scaffolding, this rock musical about the final week in the life of Christ is a large-scale undertaking. Jesus Christ Superstar was written in 1970, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This energetic rock musical has at its center a religious leader who is a social and political rebel. Jesus Christ’s meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As Christ’s teachings are embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge, and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart. Cottage Theatre's production of Jesus Christ Superstar is directed and designed by Tony Rust, with music direction by Jim Reinking, and choreography by Lanny Mitchell. The large cast features Kory Weimer as Jesus, Melissa Miller as Judas, Autumn Carter as Mary, Anna Petrick as Simon, Mark Anderson as Peter, Gabriel Wolfe as Caiaphas, Nick Forrest as Annas, Ward Fairbairn as Pilate, and Davis N. Smith as Herod, along with a large complement of Apostles, Guards, Priests, and Ensemble members. Jesus Christ Superstar runs for fifteen performances at Cottage Theatre from October 2 - 25, 2015. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Tickets are available online at www.cottagetheatre.org, by phone at 541-942-8001, or in person at the Cottage Theatre Box Office, 700 Village Drive, Cottage Grove. Tickets are $24 for adults and $20 for youth (age 6 to 18). Box Office hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 2 pm, and one hour before performances. Advance purchase is recommended. ### |
