The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe opens December 4
Cottage Grove, OR — Cottage Theatre concludes its 2015 season with a family-friendly production of the classic Narnia tale by C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The theatre will present a stage adaptation by playwright Joseph Robinette. The original Lewis book, the second and most famous in the seven-volume Narnia series, has been in continuous publication since 1956, and translated into more than 40 languages. Cottage Theatre's production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe opens a three-weekend run starting on Friday, December 4.
This magical dramatization of the C.S. Lewis classic faithfully recreates the adventures of four children who wander, quite by accident, from an old wardrobe into the exciting and unusual land of Narnia. Filled with action, poignancy, and intrigue, the adventure unfolds as the evil White Witch tries to keep Narnia in an endless icy winter and to end the reign of Aslan, the Lion. Amidst battles and struggles, Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy discover the truth of the “prophesy” that only they can fulfill. This story of love, faith, courage, and redemption, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life.
Cottage Theatre's production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is directed by Kory Weimer. Set design is by Janet Whitlow, lighting design by Amanda Ferguson, and costume design by Marjorie Steen and Chris Carter. The production features Janet Whitlow as the White Witch, Randall Brous as Aslan the lion, Jacksen Lund as Edmund, John Parker as Peter, Megan Schneider as Susan, and Kenady Conforth as Lucy. They are supported by a large cast that includes creatures of all sorts including wolves, foxes, beavers, falcons, spectors, a centaur and a unicorn. Even Father Christmas makes an appearance!
