Cottage Theatre opens Jekyll & Hyde October 6
Cottage Grove, OR -- Cottage Theatre continues its 2017 season in October with Jekyll & Hyde, a thrilling pop rock musical based on the classic novella by Robert Louis Stevenson. Jekyll & Hyde was conceived for the stage in 1990 by Steve Cuden and Frank Wildhorn, with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and music by Frank Wildhorn. Cottage Theatre's production of Jekyll & Hyde runs for four weekends from October 6 - 29.
Jekyll & Hyde explores that fine line between good and evil existing in us all. A devoted man of science who is shaken by his father’s mental illness, Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind’s most challenging medical dilemmas. He struggles to convince the Board of Governors at the mental hospital to allow him to test the formula on patients, even though he is set to marry the Chairman’s daughter, Emma. Rebuffed by the powers that be, he decides to make himself the subject of his own experimental treatments, accidentally unleashing his inner demons along with the man that the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde.
Cottage Theatre's production of Jekyll & Hyde is directed by Mark VanBeever, with set design by Tony Rust, costumes by Rhonda Turnquist, and lighting by Amanda Ferguson. The large cast features Josh Carlton as Dr. Jekyll and Kory Weimer as Mr. Hyde, along with Phoebe Gildea as Emma Carew, Tracy Nygard as Lucy Harris, and Phil Dempsey as Gabriel John Utterson. The cast also includes Stefhani Anderson, Matthew Arscott, Oshen Austin, Devin Bahr, Sophie Blades, Emily Bly, Timothy Bouwhuis, George Butterick, Kira Carver, John Eckstine, Bob Ewing, Kate Fairbairn, Jen Ferro, Dale Flynn, Spike Gildea, Amber Hagen, Jennifer Mandeville-Schulz, Aislinn Mirsch, Aislynn Morrill, Bil Morrill, Blake Nelson, Heidi Turnquist, John Vaughan Lemhouse, and Maia Wilhour.
