For Immediate Release May 10, 2016 Contact: Susan Goes, Executive Director, 541-942-8001 Scapino! opens June 10 at Cottage Theatre Cottage Grove, OR -- Cottage Theatre continues its 2016 season in June with a real knee-slapper. Scapino!, by Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale, is a modern day farce inspired by Moliere's 1671 comedy Les fourberies de Scapin. Cottage Theatre's production of Scapino! opens June 10 and runs for three weekends through June 26. Set in Naples, this zany farce is about a servant named Scapino who is smarter than his master. A quick-thinker, fast talker, and trickster, he intervenes (despite his master’s plans) to bring two pairs of young lovers together. “The good Lord has blessed me with quite a genius for clever ideas and inspired inventions . . . .” boasts Scapino. This play is a fun-filled, outrageous ride, full of slapstick and fast-paced humor; including tall tales, bad impersonations, ridiculous chase scenes, disgruntled waiters, loveable panhandlers, melodic macaroni, and misbehaving sausages. Cottage Theatre's production of Scapino! is directed and designed by George Comstock, with lighting design by Amanda Ferguson, and costumes by Rhonda Turnquist. This production features Tony Rust as Scapino, joined on stage by Kyle Carillo-Enders, Mark Allen, Dale Flynn, Randall Brous, Jon Deline, Tracy Nygard, Amber Brower, Earl Ruttencutter, Lisa Mattiello, Anna Petrick, Tracee Hoban, Natalie Tichenor, and John Kerns. Scapino! runs for eleven performances at Cottage Theatre from June 10 - 26. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Tickets are available online at www.cottagetheatre.org, by phone at 541-942-8001, or in person at the Cottage Theatre Box Office, 700 Village Drive, Cottage Grove. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for youth (age 6 to 18). Box Office hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 2 pm, and one hour before performances. Advance purchase is recommended. ### |
